Most recruitment posts fail the same way: all dream, no specifics. People are generous with their time when they can see exactly what they are signing up for. So:
One rule we do enforce: be straight with people about money. Everything else is between you and your collaborators.
- The project in two sentences. Genre, engine, tone. Link a thread in Games In Progress if you have one, it massively boosts your credibility.
- What exists already. A demo? A design doc? Forty hours of work? "Nothing yet, just an idea" is allowed, but say it plainly.
- Exactly who you need. "Pixel artist for 16x16 interior tilesets, roughly 30 tiles" gets replies. "Looking for artist" does not.
- The deal. Paid? Revenue share? Hobby collaboration for fun and credits? Any of these are fine here, but it must be stated up front. Nobody should discover the pay situation three weeks in.
- Time expectations. Hours per week, deadline if there is one.
