RPG Maker MV in 2026: still a powerhouse

MZ may be newer, but let no one tell you MV is obsolete. A decade of community output means MV has one of the largest plugin and resource libraries any engine has ever accumulated, and thousands of finished games prove the point.

Reasons people still choose MV on purpose:
  • That enormous plugin library, much of it free, covering nearly any mechanic you can imagine
  • Years of tutorials, answered questions, and solved problems
  • Export to desktop and mobile
  • It is frequently on deep sale, making it a cheap entry point

If you are an MV veteran: this section is for your projects, your plugin questions, and your hard-won knowledge. If you are choosing between MV and MZ: ask here, honest answers only, nobody is on commission.

So, MV users: what keeps you on it? And what do you wish someone had told you when you started?
